This event which took place on August 19th, was the second NYC Ghostbusters appearance hosted by the Queens Library at Seaside. There was an amazing turn out by the citizens of Rockaway and for that, the staff of the Queens Library can’t be thanked enough.
There were three interactive stations which went over extremely well with not only the Library staff and parents, but more importantly with the children in attendance. The first station, titled “Tools of the Trade”, allowed for children to view and interact with screen-accurate Ghostbusters movie props, such as the Proton Pack, PKE Meter, ECTO Goggles, Ghost Trap and other vintage Real Ghostbusters items from the cartoon series.
The second station,“SLIME LAB” demonstrated how the combination of non-toxic household materials (e.g. Water, Elmer’s Glue, Food Coloring and Borax Laundry Detergent) can be mixed to make an alternate substance, which we lovingly call “ECTO-PLAZM.”
The third and final station allowed children to participate in Ghostbusters themed arts and crafts. This table, also featured a Ghostbuster Cubeecraft Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, which children were able to assemble and take home and play with at a latter time.
Upon completion of these three stations, each child participant received a certificate from the NYC Ghostbusters making him or her an official Ghostbuster. It is our hope that when a child is afraid of the monsters under their bed or of the bully that they might face in life, they can think back to their time with the NYC Ghostbusters and feel confident in not only themselves, but also in their individual creativity.Facebook API came back with a faulty result.
